Dease Lake School · Tahltan Territory

My stories.
My voice.
My future.

I am a Story Warrior: I listen with respect, make something real, and help carry the stories of my family and community forward.

My journey begins

My story matters.

Whether I write, draw, record a memory, or spend time with an Elder, there is a place for me here. I bring my curiosity, my questions, and my voice.

Stories to carry forward

Books for my journey.

These books hold Tahltan stories, memories, and ideas to return to — on my own, with my family, or together in the classroom.

What is a Story Warrior?

A Story Warrior fights forgetting with stories.

I listen, write, draw, and speak with respect and care. I look after Elders, help those who need it, and support children because they carry the future.

The Story Warrior definition

What it means to be a warrior.

A true warrior is not shaped by the body they are born into, nor proven by raising a weapon.

They are known by the courage they carry, the mercy they choose, and the storms they endure without surrendering their soul; sometimes their greatest fight is to remain gentle in a world that demands battle.

A warrior cares for Elders, protects those who need help, and looks after children, because children carry the future.

A warrior fights forgetting with stories — with listening, writing, drawing, and speaking with respect and care.

I am a warrior when I listen with respect, write with care, protect the stories that matter, and carry my voice, my memories, my language, my land, and my people forward.
